Head Instructor

BEN HALL

Ben Hall is the Head Instructor of the Carlson Gracie Team in Australia, having been awarded his brown belt by Carlson Gracie Sr and later his black belt by Carlson Gracie Jr, in 2007. It was during one of his many training trips to the original Carlson Gracie Academy in Copacabana, Brazil, that Ben was asked to officially represent the Carlson Gracie Team in Australia.

Whilst representing the Carlson Gracie Team, Ben has had success as a competitor at State, National and International competitions as well as competing with the best Jiu-Jitsu athletes in the world at the Mundial (World) Championships in Brazil.

Ben’s knowledge and success as a competitor coupled with his dual diplomas in Sports Coaching and Sports Development ensure a progressive, safe and detailed style of teaching and learning. It was this experienced background that saw Ben being approached to take up a position with the Australian College of Sports Development as a Training Consultant, training people to be coaches & PTs & becoming leaders in the fitness industry. This also allowed Ben to up-skill his students and Assistant Instructors to ensure the future of the Carlson Gracie Team is in safe and fully qualified hands.

 Instructor

Kevin Moran

Kevin Moran began training with head instructor Ben Hall and the Carlson Gracie Team in 2000 as way to keep fit and active. In 2013, after 13 years of training, Kevin was awarded his black belt from Ben Hall making him the most senior student under Ben Hall at the Carlson Gracie Australia HQ.

In over a decade of competitive Jiu-Jitsu Kevin has found success at State, National and International events, culminating in representing the Carlson Gracie Team at the Mundial Championships in Brazil in 2008.

As an assistant instructor with a wealth of knowledge and an unmatched enthusiasm to teach and learn Kevin is excited to help Ben and the other instructors develop the skills of all the members of the Carlson Gracie Team.

KIDS COACH

Bobby Manila

Bobby has had a lifelong passion for the sports and fitness industries. When not practicing his Jiu-Jitsu, Bobby works as a health and fitness instructor guiding clients on their journey to achieving their health and fitness goals.

Bobby has been training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for over 5 years and has achieved his Purple belt under the guidance of Ben Hall. Before finding his passion for the gentle arts Bobby played national level Lacrosse, representing both WA and Victoria, receiving ‘All Australian’ status.

Passionate about sharing his love for both general health and fitness along with the wealth of personal and physical benefits of learning a martial art, Bobby finds guiding the children on their Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey an incredibly rewarding experience.

Although Bobby looks a little on the tough side – don’t let his looks fool you. All of the kids currently learning under Bobby’s guidance will soon tell you he is very patient, kind and understanding…and likely more of a kid than they are!

With children as young as four, some who are very shy and others who can barely sit still currently training with Bobby, there really is a space for all kinds of children in Bobby’s classes. No matter their age, personality, or learning style Bobby will ensure they get the best possible experience learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
